Crowd-Pleaser is based on a photograph of K.Marx's from 1875 and a bust of him in Chemnitz, Germany, from 1978. Merging personal portrait with an oversized and stylized Soviet sculpture (by Lev Kerbel), Crowd-Pleaser attempts to connect two entities, one of a human being, and another of political and intellectual icon.
